September 6, 2015 Coal shipments are down, but the iron ore business remains strong, as Middleburg Heights-based Interlake Steamship Co. is finishing $100 million in improvements to the company’s fleet of nine Great Lakes freighters. And that’s on top of normal maintenance, which will run more than $20 million this winter, a bit more than usual.
